Former Nigerian Human Rights chief Chidi Odinkalu has accused the governor of Kaduna, Nasir El-Rufai of a mischievous ploy to trigger deadly violence in Nigeria with the aim of truncating the elections before the postponement was announced.

Mr Odinkalu made the accusation on Channels TV, saying that he had researched the Kajuru Local Government area of Kaduna and there was no such report of Fulani’s killed. He noted that there were no state security officials with the governor when he made the announcement on elections eve.

It is suspected that fearing an APC election defeat, the governor wished to provoke a Fulani terrorist rebellion which could lead to president Buhari declaring a state of emergency and canceling the February elections.

A PremiumTimes report only found alleged evidence of related killings on Monday, which presumably the governor was announcing on the elections eve for unknown and suspicious purposes.
